A little good new, the PUC rejected the SDG&E shut off plan! The bad news is state law allows them to still do it. Be prepared a good defense could be storage and solar pumps. SoCal Solar Systems carries a line of (DC) deep well pumps to keep your tanks filled even when you have no power. For those of you that have swimming pools we can convert them to solar powered pumps, giving you a water source and no electric bill. I would also reccomment a small back up generator, being a seasoned professional of having no power or water with several hurricanes when I was on the East coast, a small generator goes a long way. We kept our water pump, refrigerator and tv running for a week! Solar news this week shop till you drop is the word of the day. Went to energy saving seminar this week teaching what we profess. REDUCE before you PRODUCED! Significant savings can be achieved with an energy audit.

Solar Doug here I want to tell you I work in the business and have designed over 60 residential systems here in southern California. My team consist of professional engineers not sales people. We started this division with the goal of saving our clients energy first, change your lights get a new refrigerator, programmable thermostats and the likes. Then we size a solar system to meet your needs. Last week I was in Imperial Beach California an elderly couple 70 with a $58 bill had a different solar company contracted a 1.8 kw system. I had them cancel the contract(another story) and after a quick 45 minute evaluation I recommended they replace their 15 year old refrigerator should save $18 bucks per month. Integrity before profit is what our sales people do beware.
Energy saving tip:
Put your television on power strip and turn off when you not in use, TiVo stays pluged in otherwise you have vengeful spouse.

Last weekend I read an article about China taking over solar panel production. I am angry that our country can save our banks but not our manufacturing. China has a government propped currency and we stand no chance of competing on labor. You the consumer can get better products with American produced panels. Its worth the investment.
